Turquoise dragon of new beginnings - Original acrylic ink on 300gsm water colour paper A3

£200.00

As one of the four supernatural animals of Buddhism, the azure or turquoise dragon represents light increasing power of springtime.

Oriental dragons also have a strong association with weather prognostication. The four jewels it grasps produce dew and a down pour of rain when it clenches them tightly

Forked lightening emanates from its claws.

Fiery ball lightning blazes from its mouth.

Its voice is the roll of thunder.

Sheet lightening its restless writing amidst the dark storm clouds.

Torrential rain the down pour from its glistening scales.

At spring equinox it ascends into the sky, where it remains untill the autumn equinox when it descends into a deep pool encasing itself in mud untill the next spring.

This, along with every other dragon painting I make, is dedicated to my Nana, who had a fascination with dragons.
